INK PAINTING

Rooted in an encounter with traditional Chinese ink while living in Beijing, this body of work translates the fluidity of ink from rice paper onto canvas. Black ink, fluid acrylics, water, and layered gestures come together in an intuitive process where control meets unpredictability. Rather than depicting a defined subject, the paintings emerge through movement, chance, and the tension between intention and what the materials decide to do.

The work explores nothingness, transformation, perception, and the space between control and surrender, with forms that can suggest landscapes, organic structures, or fleeting fragments without settling into a single interpretation.

The series was presented in A Dance with Nothingness, a solo exhibition at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing, China, in 2016.
